1/8 teaspoon black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, grated
1/2 cup yellow onion, minced
1 pound breakfast or Italian sausage
3 tablespoons butter, melted
Preheat oven to 375°F
Line a sheet pan with parchment, silicone baking mat, or foil.
Whisk together flour, salt, black pepper, and baking powder.
Add the shredded cheese and toss.
Add the onion, sausage, and butter. Mix thoroughly.
Scoop out sausage mix and shape into balls. Line up on your baking sheet.
Bake for 15-18 minutes, until golden and cooked through.
Serve with Hot Mustard Dipping Sauce.
Make ahead:
Form the balls, line them up in a 9x13 pan, cover and refrigerate for up to a day. You can also line them up on a sheet pan, freeze, then move to a bag and store in the freezer.
Pull them out, line them up on a sheet pan and bake. If frozen, expect them to take 2-3 extra minutes.
